MOONSHOTS LAB

MOONSHOTS LAB / 03 / FRAMEWORK

The Moonshots Lab operating model.

Eight design questions. Five evidence gates. Three ways to organize a venture. Move from ambition to an accountable decision about the next experiment.

01 / MOONSHOT

A common language. Context-specific decisions.

Choose a path, then a letter. Each module explains what to do and what to produce.

01 / Mission

Whose consequential problem are we solving?

Define the affected group, the current constraint and the harm of doing nothing. Set a boundary so the mission can be tested.

Startups

Which first customer has an urgent problem and authority to buy?

Working output
A problem brief with a named beneficiary, baseline and accountable owner.
02 / EVIDENCE BEFORE CAPITAL

Progress is demonstrated, not declared.

These decision gates are distinct from the Fellowship’s competitive stages. Return, reframe or stop whenever the evidence requires it.

G0 / Discover

Is the mission worth pursuing?

Evidence required
Observed problem, baseline, beneficiary and mandate.
Stop or revise signal
No consequential need or no accountable owner.
Next commitment
Time for discovery
03 / ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN

Startups: the system behind the idea.

Mandate

Find a repeatable business before runway runs out. Start with one customer segment and one costly problem.

Accountability

The venture team owns the experiment; customers determine whether the value is real.

01

Discover

Interview the first customer segment; document existing alternatives and buying behavior.

Output: problem evidence and the initial customer wedge.
02

Validate

Test one offer or prototype; measure adoption and willingness to pay before adding scope.

Output: experiment log and a revised business model.
03

Repeat

Establish reliable delivery, retention, contribution economics and a runway-aware next milestone.

Output: a repeatable operating loop and capital plan.

A large market slide is not evidence that anyone will change behavior or pay.

04 / GLOBAL FOUNDATIONS

Frameworks to explore and apply.

Select a framework to open its workbench, develop your answers and create a working brief. Each adaptation credits its original creators.
